Description
Defrosta® – Domestic Cold-Resistant Additive for SCR Systems (For Professional Use)
Defrosta® is a urea-based additive manufactured in Ylöjärvi, Finland, for urea-based nitrogen oxide reduction systems (SCR). The product is based on a Kemira patent and development work, with production handled by Kemion (Bang & Bonsomer).
The purpose of Defrosta is to improve the cold resistance and reliability of SCR systems in low temperatures, where traditional AdBlue may cause issues due to freezing and crystallization.
Defrosta enhances system performance at temperatures as low as approximately –30 °C and helps reduce winter-related faults, operational interruptions, as well as associated maintenance and repair costs.

🔎 Important note about using Defrosta
Defrosta is not AdBlue.
AdBlue is produced according to ISO 22241 (VDA) standard, and its freezing point is about –11 °C. Defrosta is a separate additive designed to improve the cold resistance and operability of SCR systems in low-temperature environments.
Defrosta functions as a urea-based agent in SCR systems and can be used as a blend with AdBlue when necessary. The mixture ratios in the table reflect technical freezing points and are not usage instructions.
⚠️ Factory Warranty Note
Manufacturer factory warranties may become void if AdBlue is completely replaced with Defrosta or if fluids not approved by the manufacturer are used in the system.
Defrosta does not yet have official approval from vehicle manufacturers.
For this reason, Defrosta is primarily intended for professional use in fleets where reliability in demanding conditions is critical and operational decisions are made with all factors considered.
⚠️ Sensor Note
Some vehicles have a urea concentration sensor in the AdBlue tank. In such vehicles, using Defrosta can cause error messages due to its composition differing from standardized AdBlue.

Defrosta® – SCR-järjestelmien pakkasenkestävä lisäaine (1000 L)
Defrosta on ureapohjaisiin typenoksidien pelkistysjärjestelmiin (SCR) tarkoitettu lisäaine, jonka käyttötarkoituksena on parantaa järjestelmän pakkasenkestävyyttä ja käytettävyyttä kylmissä olosuhteissa. Defrosta parantaa SCR-järjestelmien toimintaa alhaisissa lämpötiloissa aina –30 °C saakka.
Lämpötilan laskiessa syksyllä urea/AdBlue voidaan korvata Defrostalla, mikä varmistaa järjestelmän tehokkaan toiminnan ilman jäätymisongelmia. Defrosta sisältää saman massapainon aktiivista tehoainetta (ammoniakkia) kuin perinteiset ureatuotteet.
